Bong Joon Ho & Park Chan Wook are the exec producers hmm interesting... What the hell is this garbage? Go watch the masterpiece of a film instead of wasting hours and hours watching this. I suddenly having chronic vertigo after watching this trailer... Briliant. Brilliant. Finally.
Great film, good analysis. For a guy who claimed that he ate people, I'm not sure why finding out that the brown jelly MREs were made of bugs suddenly seemed really disgusting to him. Ybody else notice the dude with wings? o_o. Watch full length snowpiercer online.

Storyline
Set in 2031, the entire world is frozen except for those aboard the Snowpiercer. For seventeen years, the world's survivors are on a train hurtling around the globe creating their own economy and class system. Led by Curtis (Chris Evans), a group of lower-class citizens living in squalor at the back of the train are determined to get to the front of the train and spread the wealth around. Each section of the train holds new surprises for the group who have to battle their way through. A revolution is underway.

Masterpiece.
I thought Snowpiercer was highly entertaining. It was not world-changing or a mind-blowing social commentary or anything like that. Let's get that out of the way first. Yes, it was metaphorical. But the metaphor was SO in your face that it kinda didn't really have an impact. I mean, if you've ever read or watched much scifi before you've already encountered this sort of thing. Based on the buzz, I went in expecting a lot of pretentious bull. I found instead a delightfully bizarre action flick with well-realized characters.
There are a lot of conceits you just have to take for granted starting out. Like the whole setup. Or the fact that there are going to be some really surreal bits that are just in there to give it an otherworldly feel. If you need straight-up logic, you PROBABLY shouldn't be seeing a film called "Snowpiercer" that is about a dystopian future on board a train after the icepocalypse.
BUT. The character arcs! They were good. Pretty much every single character had their entire world view upended. The two born on the train that we see most end up out of the train. The main character gets everything he wants but finds out he doesn't want it. The man who built the gates destroys the ultimate gate. The man who had the ultimate faith in their leader is abandoned by him (justifiably, but still. Et cetera.
It's also just a very pretty movie, and there are lots of fun little bits in it that added to the atmosphere.
I am normally not squeamish about violent scenes but these were cringe-inducing. Also, people lose limbs a lot. I think it's probably appropriate for ages 13.
Quite frankly, I rate on entertainment value, not on disassembling every bit of the movie. So I give this 9 out of 10. Not ten out of ten because 1) there was a rather unfortunately dramatic and pretentious intro bit with some lame conspiracy theory music, and 2) THE POLAR BEAR. Just no to the polar bear.
Ah how happy I was in the summer of 2014 they had first released this trailer. Really miss those days. What song. Its a Korean-directed movie. Korean movies 90% of the time have sad endings so, Im buying the idea that the kids die. Good video man... I agree wholeheartedly. Wonderfully put. Probably bong joon hos only mediocre movie, no thanks to Weinstein for the edits he demanded. Good to see bong is in full control of his latest movie, parasite.
Didn't the train in the movie travel faster? More CGI, of course. Just rewatched this movie. Kickass analysis, keep it up. Damn Thresher Maws from Mass Effect. Why I never heard of this movie before wtf. I am soo late. Definitely watching this.
